DESIGN PROCESS
The following is a brief overview of the typical design process for a residential project. Not all jobs require the entire process so if your requirements are less comprehensive, you would choose and pay for as much as you need
Prices are estimates only to give an idea. Design costs will vary depending on the nature and complexity of the site, how much detail will be required and and client are different so fee proposals would be provided for each job prior to the work being carried out)
1. CONSULTATION
If you are just needing some advice or inspiration, I can meet with you on site on an hourly basis. Using discussion, sketches etc. we can explore thoughts and ideas and possible solutions, suggestions for materials and planting, etc, and ideas that you may not have thought of. This stage can be useful if you just want feedback on your own ideas or you need ideas to get you started and are planning to develop the garden yourself.
PRICE GUIDE:
$160/hr including travel + GST

2. CONCEPT DESIGN
This stage comprises the preparation of a scaled outline plan showing the proposed layout with notes on the factors that have influenced the design, materials and types of plants. This drawing is often accompanied by a sketch view to help illustrate the concept.
A prerequisite at this stage is the preparation of a scaled site plan. We can do basic site surveys but detailed or complex sites may require the services of a Surveyor.
As an additional option, I can also prepare 3 dimensional computer models of the concept to assist you in visualising the completed project before committing to development of the detailed design.
PRICE GUIDE:.
Site Plan: $500+GST for a simple site
Concept Plan: $2,000-3,000
3. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
The purpose of these drawings is to take the design from the ideas stage to something that can be built. In this, they are as much design drawings as the concept plans. Drawings required are different for every site and project, depending whether the drawings are for construction by yourself or by a builder or landscape contractor, or for building or resource consent. They could include construction and layout details, planting plans, schedules and specifications. We tailor the package of drawings to the requirements of each job.
